DESCRIPTION
Zaragoza tram opened in 1885 (initial horse tram) and it was electrified in 1902. The original tram network was closed in 1976.
A modern LRT/tram line opened on 19-04-2011 (Gran Via-Mago de Oz); it was extended in 2012 (Gran Via-Plaza Espana; Plaza Espaaa-Plaza del Pilar/Murallas) and 2013 (Plaza del Pilar/Murallas-Avenida de la Academia). The new tram runs north-south connecting Valdespartera (Mago de Oz) with Parque Goya (Academia), passing through the city centre; along a short central section is feeded by onboard supercapacitors (without overhead electric power supply).
The tram serves the railway network (Fernando el Catolico-Goya stop); two important park&ride facilities are located along the track (at Valdespartera and close to La Chimenea stop); another interchange stop is located at the railway station.
