DESCRIPTION
The first Rotterdam tram line opened in 1879 (horse tram) and from that date tram has been continuously in service; electrification took place in 1905. In 1927 the whole network was took in charge by a municipality-controlled company (former RETM, now RET).
The current tram network consists in 9 lines.
