DESCRIPTION
Sofia electric tram opened in 1901 and from that date it has been continuously in service. The tram sections built from 1901 to 1987 were metric gauge; new standard gauge tram sections were added in 1985 and 1997.
The current tram network consists in 14 lines (11 metric gauge lines + 3 standard gauge lines).
