| DESCRIPTION(last modified February 19, 2017 )Clermont Ferrand first tram opened in 1855 (initial horse tram); electrification was completed in 1898. The original tram network closed in 1938.
Clermont Ferrand bases its current transit network on a tram on tyres line (Line A, north-south), that is integrated by a modern bus service (Line B, east-west).
Line A opened on October 2006 (Champratel-CHU Gabriel Montpied) and it was extended in 2007 (CHU Gabriel Montpied-La Pardieu Gare) and 2013 (Champratel-Les Vergnes). Line A runs north-south, passing through the city centre and serving many crucial urban polarities (universtity, high schools, administrative center, railway station). Some important park&ride areas are located along the route (at Croix de Noirat, 1 May, Chu Gabriel Montpied, Margeride and La Pardieu Gare stops).
