| DESCRIPTION(last modified February 19, 2017 )Katowice tram opened in 1894. This original metric gauge tram was initially operated by steam tramcars; its electrification took place in 1898. Starting from 1912, the track was converted from metric gauge rails (1000 mm) to standard gauge rails (1435).
 The current network is articulated in 32 lines.
