DESCRIPTION
Bergamo first tram opened in 1912; the original tram network was closed in 1956.
A modern LRT/tram system (Tramvia delle Valli) opened on 24 Aprile 2009. It's partly set on the elder Ferrovia delle Valli railway, re-using some of the infrastructures. T1 is articulated in 2 sections: Bergamo-Alzano (opened on April 2009) and Alzano Sopra-Albino (opened on June 2009). The network should be completed by other 2 lines: the so-called metrotranvia della Val Brembana (T2) connecting Bergamo to Villa d'Almè (set on the elder Ferrovia delle Valli alignment) and a properly said urban line (T3) connecting Giovanni XXIII Hospital to via Corridoni.
