VENICE
Venezia
An automated cable-system connecting Isola del Tronchetto (an artificial island) to Piazzale Roma, with an intermediate stop at Marittima (close to a parking area) opened in Venice on 19 April 2010. The track is totally elevated (viaduct height: from 5 to 6.5 m), with a 180 m long section (3 spans) crossing Canale del Tronchetto.
The new line connects 3 of the most important touristic access points to Venice; its primary role will be enforced once it will interchange with the new tram-on-tyres line (currently under construction).
