TOURS
Tours
In Tours plans are going on for a modern tram network based on 2 main lines, after the closure of the former tramway system in 1949. Since then public transport was opereated (Fil Bleu) with buses, but this network is currently near the saturation.
The first tram line is planned along an existing alignement in reserved lane, connecting Lycee Vaucanson (northern side) to Lycee Jean Monnet (southern side). It will serve important urban polarities (Gare SNCF, Palais des Sports) and populated suburbs (Sanitas, Deux-Lions, etc.). The very central section won't be provided by catenary due to estetichal reasons.
Long term plans involve a second line, from Gare TGV (or, otherwise, from Lycee Vaucanson) to the University Campus of Grandmont.
