Poznan
Poznan developed a tramway network since 1880 (horse tram); a further rapid transport line (from Lubon to Winiary district) was planned more than once since the end of years '20s (when the population strongly increased after the Prussian domain), but never realized.
In years '70s, under the comunist regime, it was planned to respond to the development of new important northern residential suburbs (Winogrady, Piatkowo) with a segregated rapid transit line connecting the city center, to be extended up to some other northern suburban areas (Murowana Goslina). Due to financial lacks, the original project was limited to the urban section from Piatkowo to the city center (completed only in 1997), where the so-called Poznan Fast Tram (PFT) joins the classical tram network at Roosevelta Street.
