In Pescara works are going on to realize a magnetic tram-on-tyres line. The first section will connect the railway station (Pescara FS) to Montesilvano, with possible future extensions to Silvi, Francavilla, Chieti and Pescara Airport. The the main goal of the project is the reduction of the road traffic congestion, thanks to the adoption of an innovative, ecological and reliable technology (among the main features, priority at segnalized intersections).
