The public transport network in Paris has been completed in November 2006 by a new tram-train line (T4) running from Aulnay-sous-Bois to Bondy (right side of Seine river), on the tracks of an elder single rail suburban railway ("
Coquetiers Line"), which was utilized by an old and noisy rolling stock and was interrupted by 14 level crossings; nonetheless, this old line was still important for the connection with Paris center.
The renewal of the line started in 2003; rails were doubled from Livry-Gargan to Aulnay-sous-Bois, level crossing substituted by a visive signalling system and a modern dual low floor rolling stock (Siemens Avanto) able to run in tramway mode (750 V DC) and in train mode (25 KV AC) has been adopted. The line, more than a properly said tram-train, is a conversion of an existing railway (detached from the general net) into a modern tramway, re-using the elder infrastructure.
New sections are considered: an intermediate branch from Clichy-sous-Bois to Montfermeil, a northern extension from Aulnay-sous-Bois to Parinor.
