Padua
In Padua the first phase (Stazione FS-Guizza) of SIR 1 line opened on 24 March 2007; it consists in a tram-on-tyres system, based on Translohr technology. The whole network will be articulated in 3 radial lines (converging on the railway station):
- SIR 1, from Pontevigodarzere to Guizza (north-south, 10.4 km);
- SIR 2, from Sarmeola to Ponte di Brenta (east-west, 12.6 km);
- SIR 3, from Stazione FS to Padua south-eatern side (Voltabarozzo) serving the main hospital area (5.4 km).
The current ridership is about 4 millions pax/year.
