Minsk
In 1984 Minsk, capital of Belarus, has been the height sovietic town provided with an underground metro (that year the first stretch Institut Kultury - Moskovskaya of the so-called Moskovskaya Line was opened). Works started in 1977, after that Minsk population overtook the million of inhabitants during years '50s and '60s. The initial section was extended in 1986 (Moskovskaya - Vostok) and 2007 (Vostok-Uruchye); currently further works are going on at southern terminal (Institut Kultury-Petrovshchina extension).
In 1990 Avtozavodskaya Line followed Moskovskaya one, with its first stretch from Traktorniy Zavod to Frunzenskaya. During years '90s (despite the sovietic crisis and thanks to the relative autonomy achieved by Belarus region) Avtozavodskaya was two times extended (1995: Frunzenskaya-Pushkinskaya; 1997: Traktorniy Zavod -Avtozavodskaya), getting its definitive asset with 2 further sections (2001: Avtozavodskaya - Mogilyovskaya; 2005: Pushkinskaya - Kamennaya Gorka).
Moskovskaya and Avtozavodskaya lines cross each other at Oktyabrskaya-Kupalovskaya stop (in the city center); a third line has been planned with a north-south alignement (it should cross the first 2 lines at Frunzenskaya and Pl. Lenina stops), creating the tipical sovietic triangle in the central areas (Oktyabrskaya-Kupalovskaya, Frunzenskaya, Pl. Lenina).
