LE-MANS
Le Mans
Le Mans the first tramway line opened on 17 November 2007.
The north-south track (about 15 km long, University-Gares-Antares route) serves the city center and the railway station, besides other crucial urban areas (university, hospital).
An eastern branch of the line joins popular residential suburbs and many public structures. This kind of tram choice (modern rolling stock with steel wheels) was taken unless an initial option for a tram-on-tyres; the expected ridership is 50.000 pax/day, a significant value that is possible to obtain also thanks to urbanistic and traffic measures trying to reduce the cars congestion in the city center.
