DORTMUND
A suspended monorail system (the so-called H-Bahn) opened in Dortmund on 1984. This monorail (SAFEGE type) is articulated in 2 lines: the first one connects Eichlinghofen district to Technologiezentrum (with an intermediate stop at Do-Universitat, where H-Bahn interchanges with Bochum-Dusseldorf suburban railway line), the second one connects the 2 university campus (Campus North, Campus South) mostly running along the same alignement of the first line. H-Bahn system is completely driverless and carries about 1.5 millions passengers per year; fares and timetables are well integrated with the rest of public tranport.
A similar monorail operates also in Dusseldorf since 2002.
