DESCRIPTION
Wuppertal tram opened in 1874 (initial horse tram); steam trams operated during 1891-1903, before the complete electrification (1903). The tram network reached its maximum lenght in 1948 (175 km), but in the next decades it was constantly reduced before its final closure (1987).
A short strecth of the original tram system reopened in 1992 inside Bergische Museumsbahnen (heritage tram museum), operating on original rails with original cars.
