DESCRIPTION
Potsdam tram opened in 1880 (initial horse tram) and it was electrified in 1907. Its last extensions were completed in 1985, 1991, 1993, 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2017.
The current network is articulated in 5 regular lines (plus 2 special lines), joining each other at Platz der Einheit (city centre). Tram interchanges with DB railways at Potsdam Hbf (where it's also connected with Berlin S-Bahn S7), Babelsberg, Rehbrucke, Charlottenhof and Pirschheide; thanks to its latest extensions (1991-2001), tram also serves new residential areas (Robert Baberske Strasse/Kirschsteigfeld, Bornstedter Feld). The track is mostly in reserved lanes (75% of its extension), without interferences with road traffic.
