DESCRIPTION
Nice tram opened in 1878 (initial horse tram) and it was electrified in 1910. The original tram network was closed in 1953.
The first modern tram line (Line 1) opened on November 2007 (Henri Sappia-Comte de Falicon-Pont Michel); it was extended on July 2013 (Pont Michel-Hopital Pasteur). This tram line connects boulevard Comte de Falicon (in the northern part of the city) to the eastern suburb of Valle du Paillon (up to Pont Michel) passing through Place Massena (city centre). Line 1 serves crucial urban polarities (such as university, stadium, exhibition center, hospital) and relevant commercial areas; parking facilities (total car places: about 1500) are located along the track.
