DESCRIPTION
Krakow tram opened in 1882; it was electrified in 1901. The last tram network extensions were completed in 2008 (Politechnika-Rondo Mogilskie tunnel), 2011 (Kobierzynska-Ruzcaj), 2012 (Ruzcaj-Czerwone Maki) and 2015 (Dworcowa-Dw. Plaszow-Lipska).
Krakow Fast Tram line (Line 50) opened on 11 December 2008; this line includes a tunnel section passing underneath Dworzec Glowny railway station. This modern LRT/tram line connects Kurdwanow (south) with Krowodrza Gorka (north), passing through the city centre. Fast Tram line runs partly over the existing tram tracks and partly over new infrastructures. The urban segment of this line starts at Rondo Grzegorzeckie (east of the city centre), then it passes the Bothanical Garden and reaches Rondo Mogilskie, where it get under Dworzec Glowny railway station (through Politechnika-Rondo Mogilskie tunnel); then it turns north proceeding ground level through the Politecnique area, and joins the existing tram tracks at Dworzek Towarowy, prosecuting up to Krowodrza Gorka.
The current tram network includes 27 ordinary tram lines and 1 Fast Tram line.
