- Brest: contract signed with Alstom for the delivery of 20 Citadis vehicles for the new tram line
- Dijon: contract signed with Alstom for the delivery of 32 Citadis vehicles for the new tram line
- Sheffield: tram-train trial service (along an existing freight railway from Meadowhall to Rothenham, with a connection to the Supertam network) announced on 16 September 2009
- Karlsruhe: contract signed with Bombardier for the delivery of 30 Flexity Swift dual vehicles (2011-2013, 129 M Euro)
- Athens: Nomismatokopio (metro Line 3) opened on 02 September 2009
