STOCKHOLM-L22
Stockholm4 tramway lines currently run in Stockholm:- Line 7: it's an heritage tramway that works almost all the year;- Line 12: it's the only line of the original tramway network (dismissed in 1967) still running;- Line 21: the so-called "Lidingö line" is currently operating as a local railway line;- Line 22; it runs outside the city center, connecting suburban areas.
In 1985 Stockholm municipality decided to realize a museum tramway line; works started in 1990, to be completed on June 1991 with the opening of the so-called Djurgardslinjen (Line 7). Djurgardslinjen line, which ran from Norrmalmstrong to Waldemarsudde only on certain periods of the year, reached briefly a remarkable ridership (f.e. in 1998 it got more than 2 millions pax/year). This suggested to extend Line 7 towards the city center, transforming it in a modern and properly-said tram line; works have been completed on June 2010, with the opening of a modern tram service from Sergels torg to Waldemarsudde (Line 7), sharing part of the track with an heritage/museum tramway service (Line 7N: from Norrmalmstorg-Skansen) along.
Line 22, also called Tvarbanan, has been opened in 2000 (Gullmarsplan-Liljeholmen section) to be completed in 2002 (Gullmarsplan-Sickla udde section), linking the Tunnelbanan Grona and Roda Linjen (Green and Red metro Lines) with suburban railways (Pendeltag). Line 22 runs mostly in segregated lanes, with the exceptions of Grondal (in road traffic) and Hammarby sjostad (in reserved lanes in the middle of the streed, with level crossing at the crossroads) sections .
Many important interchange points with metro (Alvik, Liljeholmen, Gullmarsplan stops), suburban railways (Arstaberg) and LRT line n. 12 (Nockebybanan) must be mentioned.
